For solids that rapidly settle and cannot be maintained uniformly in slurry, such as the bottom or side of a drum or filter tray, feed the filter.

When it takes a long drying time to reach asymptotic moisture.

When very short cycle times are required, such as rapid dehydration of phosphate slurry.

If the filtrate needs to be clarified from the beginning, it is good practice to form a very thin layer of heel over the exposed cloth as the filtering medium.

This is done through a “cloudy port outlet”, which is recirculated, or, if the solid settles quickly, by distributing the first 20-30 cm prior to acting as a “settling pool” into the vacuum area.

Intensive washing of the cake is necessary because the belt filter makes it possible to apply countercurrent washing.

For example, in the rotary drum filter, washing time can be quite limited due to its geometry.

When water is often under vacuum conditions, severe measures such as baffles, compression blankets or pressure rollers can assist in sealing cracks, thus avoiding loss of vacuum.

When using this measure it is necessary to ensure that the belt support system can take these additional vertical loads.

When scale formation is a problem, steam jackets can be provided due to flash or filtrate temperatures that must be maintained in true empty tanks.

When the water will block the cloth continuously remove the particles that can be knocked out after the water discharge, the cloth with a high impact nozzle on both sides is thoroughly cleaned.
